Friends Episode Guide - Season 1

101: Pilot

Monica tells the guys about Paul, the wine guy, who she swears she is not dating. Ross is depressed that his ex-wife just moved out to live with her female lover. Then, Rachel bursts in Central Perk in a wedding dress who has just left the groom at the altar. Rachel tells her father on the phone that she'll be staying with Monica, much to Monica's surprise.

102: TOW the Sonogram At the End

Ross learns that his ex-wife, Carol, is pregnant with his baby and that she and Susan want him to be involved in the baby's life. Monica has her parents over for dinner and endures exquisite torture by her mother. Rachel decides to give Barry back his engagement ring, but when she brings it to him at his office, she learns that he has began a relationship with her Maid of Honour, Mindy. Ross accompanies Carol and Susan to the OB/GYN and sees a sonogram of his unborn child.

103: TOW the Thumb

Chandler goes back to smoking, Phoebe has trouble with her bank and then finds a human thumb in her soda. Ross learns the truth about his childhood pet, and Monica dates a guy named Alan whom all her friends adore.

104: TOW George Stephanopoulos

Rachel gets her first pay check as well as a depressing visit from three of her society girlfriends. Ross gets hit in the face with a hockey puck and ends up in the emergency room. Monica, Phoebe and Rachel have a slumber party during which they reveal some deep secrets and end up with George Stephanopoulos' pizza.

105: TOW the East German Laundry Detergent

Monica and Joey go on a rather peculiar double date, Ross goes on a laundry date with Rachel during which they meet an absolute horrible woman. Chandler breaks up with Janice and accidentally hits her in the eye.

106: TOW the Butt

Joey gets a job as Al Pacino's butt double, Chandler dates a woman who has a husband and is dating two other men, and Monica tries to prove that she is nothing like her mother.

107: TOW the Blackout

During the power cut, Rachel falls for the owner of a lost cat, a dark attractive Italian guy. Meanwhile, Chandler is trapped in a cash point vestibule with Jill Goodacre.

108: TOW Nana Dies Twice

Ross and Monica go to bedside of their dead grandmother who momentarily comes back to life. Chandler questions his sexual identity when a colleague wants to arrange a date for him - with another guy.

109: TOW the Underdog Gets Away

Monica decides to make Thanksgiving dinner for everyone, Joey becomes a free clinic "disease poster boy", Ross talks (and sings) to his unborn child through Carol's belly, and Underdog gets away.

110: TOW the Monkey

Ross adopts Marcel the monkey and introduces him to his friends. Phoebe begins - and ends - a relationship with David the scientist guy, Joey dates a single mom, and the Friends make a New Years Eve pact that starts with them all agreeing to have dinner as a group, but which ends up turning into a huge party, at which none of them has anyone to kiss.

111: TOW Mrs Bing

Monica and Phoebe inadvertently put a guy into a coma and end up becoming obsessed with him. Chandler's mother, Nora, comes into town and winds up in an embarrassing situation with Ross. Joey defends his mother's sex appeal, Ross and Chandler feud and Rachel begins writing a sexy, wildly misspelled romance novel.

112: TOW the Dozen Lasagnes

Monica tries to get rid of twelve unwanted lasagnes, Ross learns the sex of his baby, Rachel and Paolo split up, Chandler and Joey go in on a new kitchen table, and Rachel learns three important things about Phoebe.

113: TOW the Boobies

Chandler sees Rachel's boobies and the "Booby Payback Express" begins. Phoebe dates a psychiatrist named Roger who psychoanalyses all the others and incurs their loathing. Joey finds out that his dad has been seeing another woman for years.

114: TOW the Candy Hearts

In this Valentine's Day episode, Chandler goes on a blind date with the amazingly shrill Janice. Monica, Rachel and Phoebe perform a cleansing boyfriend bonfire that ends up requiring fire-fighters. And Ross goes on his first date in years and finds himself at the same table as his ex-wife and her new "companion".

115: TOW the Stoned Guy

Chandler gets promoted, quits his job and then learns that what he was doing was exactly what he is suited for. Monica "auditions" for a  job as a head chef for a restaurant owner who is not exactly in the best condition to appreciate her culinary skills. Ross dates a young lady who wants him to talk dirty to her, a skill Joey is happy to teach him, and Rachel reluctantly agrees to work temporarily for Monica.

116: TOW the Two Parts, Part 1

Phoebe's twin sister causes confusion and conflict when Joey is attracted to her rather than Phoebe. Marcel the monkey makes some adjustments to Ross's answering machine and TV, Chandler starts dating an attractive employee instead of firing her and Ross attends Lamaze class with Carol and Susan.

117: TOW the Two Parts, Part 2

Monica and Rachel switch identities at the emergency room and end up dating two hot doctors who don't know their real names. Joey attempts to continue his relationship with Phoebe's sister Ursula, and Marcel the monkey winds up in the hospital forcing Ross confront his pending fatherhood.

118: TOW All the Poker

Ross, Joey and Chandler reluctantly agree to allow Monica, Rachel and Phoebe into their sacrosanct poker game, except that they first have to teach the ladies how to play poker. Rachel lands an interview for a job she really, really wants and Ross and Marcel "have words" over the monkey's playing of a certain CD.

119: TOW the Monkey Gets Away

Rachel finds out that her ex-fiancée Barry is getting married. She "monkey-sits" Marcel and promptly loses him. Ross decides to pursue a relationship with Rachel, Monica and Rachel meet and old high school friend, Phoebe gets shot in the butt, and the Friends browse through Monica's high school year book.

120: TOW the Evil Orthodontist

Chandler falls for Danielle, a girl he dated once, Rachel has a fling with her ex-fiancée Barry while Barry's new fiancée asks Rachel to be her maid of honour, and the Friends spot neighbour spying on them with a telescope.

121: TOW the Fake Monica

A rambunctious and confident woman who becomes known as "Fake Monica" takes on Monica's identity and goes on a spending spree with her credit card. Joey tries to find the perfect stage name, and Marcel reaches sexual maturity necessitating that Ross give him up.

122: TOW the Ick Factor

Rachel starts having sex dreams involving all the guys - except Ross. Ross carries a beeper for when Carol goes into labour but he keeps getting calls for a male outcall service. Monica does some "icky" that is also a felony in forty-eight states, and Phoebe goes to work for Chandler.

123: TOW the Birth

Joey lends a hand when a single girl prepares to give birth and the father is nowhere to be found. Phoebe serenades the hospital waiting room as well as a broom closet's "captive audience". Monica realises just how much she wants to have a baby of her own, Rachel shamelessly hits on Carol's OB/GYN, and Chandler proposes marriage to Monica.

124: TOW Rachel Finds Out

Ross leaves for a trip to China during a birthday barbeque for Rachel, Chandler spills the beans about Ross's feelings for Rachel, Joey participates in a fertility study and learns how to be "generous" in bed, Phoebe channels Ross through a picture, and Ross brings home a little "surprise" from China.
